GENERAL INFORMATION

HOW TO ORDER

At present, you can only buy our Uncustomized Table Sheets online.

With all other products, call us at 801-296-6644 and we will take your order by phone -- we will generate an order contract for you to sign and fax back. We're also glad to answer any questions you may have, and try to help you figure out which of our mural formats and customization best suits your situation. If you can, try to familiarize yourself a bit with the formats, the designs available fo those formats, and the customization options before you call.

INTEGRATING YOUR MARKETING CHARACTERS AND IMAGES

We can absolutely add one of YOUR characters to our designs---provided you have a good graphic file.

The same logo file specs apply (scroll up), but more so. We really need a vector file, or a very high resolution file for this to work. For example, the Calgary Stampede horse character (left) was a pixel file, and at full scale was printed 5 feet tall.

We can certainly leave your character in full color as well, or we can "pull out the color", like Clifford (below left) or Ronald (right), only if we have a vector file.

Note: Ronald McDonald, Clifford The Big Red Dog, Sponge Bob Square Pants, and Michigan J. Frogge are the property of their respective copyright and trademark owners. They were used with permission at their respective events. We do not use these characters on any other murals, so they are not available to other buyers.

MENUS OF INDIVIDUAL ELEMENTS

Click to view a multi-page PDF. For a Combine and Rearrange Design, you can pick and choose which of these elements you'd like to use. To communicate with us, you can say "page three, third line down, second building from the left". OR, you can print off the pages with things you like, circle the items, and fax us the pages. That number is 801-296-1087.

Logo File Specifications

BEST:

EPS Format-a true EPS, with vector art. This is an origianl artwork file that has all the artwork lines from the origianl creation of the logo. An Illustrator (.ai) file should have the same artwork information.

MODERATE:

A high resolution pixel file. JPEG, TIFF, BMP and PSD are pixel files, but whether they\’re high resolution or not depends on how they were saved. If their "file size" is in the 10k-20k range, it\’s not likely they\’re high enough resolution. In the 100k range, they might be. In the 1MB range, they probably are. Pick the one with the largest filesize, and send it on. Or send several files, and we\’ll see which one is best

BAD:

Low resolution pixel files. JPEG's that are in the 10-20k range are usually too low resolution. GIF's are always bad.

UNUSABLE:

Word files (.doc) or Powerpoint (.ppt) files.

Have us DRAW your existing poster

With our New Illustration, we can draw your event poster. Here’s an example of a poster we redrew for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. Since we needed it to be longer than the original, we added more details into the background.

This client wanted to use their town’s poster, but they needed at really long (40 foot!) mural. We redrew all of the elements in their poster, rearranged them for the extra length, and added more detail to their birds, fish, flowers and characters. We also added several event and sponsor logos.

SUBMITTING YOUR OWN DESIGN

Occassionally clients will ask if they can create their own mural design. We are certainly glad to support this, but we usually try to talk them out of it. Here's why:

Will it save money...? We usually charge our second tier price (Combine & Rearrange). So it's actually more than just choosing a stock design, and the same price as if we pull together characters from any of our designs.

Can we get more customized with our own artist...? For an extra $100-$200, we'll bring our illustrators in to draw things specifically for you. You can send us photos of buildings, statues, fountains, people, costumes, etc from your town or event. Consider whether saving things $100-$200 is worth it to get your artist involved.

Do you want to match your existing marketing material...? This is a good reason to provide your own design. But consider the issues below, the time you'll be requesting from your artist, the expense, ad art direction that might be involved

Is it easy for us to transfer your design...? If your illustrator created it in vector format (or they know how to transferit to vector format) then yes. If not, there can be several file format AND art style issues to address.

(1) STYLE: Your graphic needs solid lines around everything in the design to transfer it to this paintable style. A lot of really good art does not use solid lines, and wouldn’t transfer well.

(2) STYLE: Your graphic can’t rely on shading or gradient color--neither of these translate to paintable line art.

(3) FORMAT: If it’s not created in vector on computer, then either you or us will have to do a high resolution scan.

(4) FORMAT: If we do need to end up scanning, it’s best to actually have a lineart version of your design to scan and vectorize, and THEN a color version to use as a colordot key. So that means collaborating with your artist first--before they start--to have them do a lineart version first, make a copy, then put color to it

Every situation is different, so please feel free to call to discussion possibilities. Again, we’re not against the idea, but it can be difficult on your end and ours, and the result has often ended up LESS fun to paint on-site, which should be the goal

This client wanted a different style for the college-age attendees. They created the file in vector format (Adobe Illustrator), at exactly the right size/proportion. We charged just our Stock Design price to prep and print their design.

This power company client already had a department that created coloring books, so they already had characters and experience in creating coloring scenes. They gave us a vector file in the right size, and we charged the Stock Design price.

This client hand-drew the black line part of this design, then vectorized it, then put vectorized color to it in Illustrator. So they were able to provide a fully vectorized file.

This client wanted a particular local artist to create a design, so they drew this line art, and just mailed it to us.

We scanned it and vectorized it here, then added all the headlines and signboard text

Something like this would NOT work very well--lines are too thin, and the color is gradiated. We’d have to scan it, then try to pull out all the color in Photoshop, which with gradients in color can be difficult. There are black lines around all the items in the design, but they’re very thin. Removing color removes part of the outlines as well, so thin lines like this don’t survive the process well enough.

This one actually DID work well--good thick black lines and very solid colors. We were able to pull out the color easily.

This client wanted a particular local artist to create these two designs. The linework is good for file transfer, but the content wasn’t of things that kids like to paint.

This client had an existing postcard mail campaign--using this design. For the event where the mural was used, there was an airline sponsor who provided the smiling airplane graphic, which added to the design. Again, good line work, but not very interesting to paint.
