We offer this type of mural stand for short-term rental. It's made from aluminum tubing and connectors similar to a high-quality speaker stand. It breaks down into a bag about the size of a golf bag (the black bag in the picture above), and weighs about 44 pounds when packed.
Why We Don't Sell These Stands
Some parts used to make this stand have gone in and out of availability. Also, these would be more than twice the cost of the PVC stand shown at right. |
 |
We offer this type of mural stand for purchase. This stand is made from “Schedule 40” (very rigid) PVC tubing. Even though it’s the rigid PVC, it’s still not as rigid as the aluminum of the rental stands, hence more center posts). This stand breaks down into two canvas carrying bags about the size of golf bags. Each bag weighs about 40 pounds, so one strong person could carry both bags at once.
Height - We only make these stands to accommodate a 5' tall mural. |

Tie Down To Ground Stakes
The mural stand MUST be tied down to ground stakes so the stand won't blow over in the wind (shown in photos farther down this page). We provide those curly-cue ground stakes with the rental, but if these aren't working well with the ground in the mural area, you need to provide your own ground stakes. We also provide the tie-down straps. |

Use on Hard-Top or Asphalt (Outdoors)
The mural can certainly be used on a hard surface. However, in this case, the provided ground stakes obviously won't work, so if you're outdoors, you MUST provide four (4) heavy tie-points to strap the mural to. This can be water barrels or concrete buckets. We usually say “whatever you'd use to tie down a 20x20 tent.” Sand bags are not adequate.
Indoor Use
As long as you are indoors and OUT OF THE WIND, you can use the rental stand without having to tie it down. It stands fine all by itself, even with people painting on it. If you are still in the wind (say, under a picnic pavillion), then you'd need to tie it to tie-points or ground stakes as if you are outside.
Rental Fee
We charge $150 to rent the stand for the duration of your event (one to two weeks). The $150 includes both inbound and return shipping (UPS Ground, within the mainland US). If you need the stand longer, or for two events a month or two, we can usually accomodate your request and negotiate a higher rental price.
Canada
We do rent these stands in Canada for $200, which covers the higher shipping costs, as well as customs fees on the return shipment. Remember that with any shipment going to Canada, there will be customs broker fees, as well as duties and taxes, that are not included in our prices. |

This PVC murals stand really needs to the strapped to tie points to not droop a little to one side under it's own weight. We know it's not as elegant, but you need the straps even if you’re indoors out of the wind on this PVC stand.
