Our murals bring so many things to your event site. Invite your attendees to immerse themselves together in a life-size coloring experience.
It’s a warm-and-fuzzy, eye-catching way for event sponsors to ‘activate’ their sponsorship, to amplify your event theme, and add a high throughput activity to you event.
Our Rigid Wipeable Plastic works well when you have a weeks-long event in one location—like a state fair—or would like to mount it semi-permanently on a wall—like an amusement venue.
With proper storage, care, and wiping after each day’s use, many clients have used their mural for at least four or five years, with some getting more than eight.
The Rigid Wipeable Plastic comes to you by freight, in 4 ft wide sections. You need to mount the mural directly to a wall. Note that the Rigid doesn’t mount on our stand. And also note that the Rigid actually stores smaller than the Rollable, and should last several years longer than the Rollable with proper care, storage and cleaning.
Choose an existing design, or combine elements from one design into another. Includes headline text and full-color logo placement.
12×5
16×5 (most common)
Plus freight, does not include paint, markers or stand
Freight will be calculated and added.

Mural pricing depends on three things: mural type, customization level and size.
Click into the Mural Types pages to see which mural type will work best for your situation, and note the price differences for the customization and size options. Also note that stand purchase/rental, markers/paint and shipping are not included in the mural prices.
Single-Use Tarps are a paper-vinyl hybrid, strong enough to sew and grommet and hang on a stand, but not as strong as banner vinyl. They work with kids paint or kids markers, and do not wipe off. These are great for large one or two-day events, or small ongoing programs (like a camp series) where you’d finish a mural over an extended time. They’re good for hanging for display afterwards in an indoor location.
Rollable Wipeable Plastic murals come in one-piece, like a regular banner, but are not as pliable as vinyl. They can be rolled but not folded, so the roll up into a 5’ roll. They work with Crayola Brand Markers or Crayola Brand Wipeable Paint, and both wipe off with water and sponge or paper towels. These are great when you need an activity at many events in different locations. They work well with our Mural Stand, which gives you the flexibility to put a mural anywhere on your event site.
The Rigid Wipeable Plastic comes to you on a pallet in four-foot wide sections. It needs to mount to a solid wall, fence or side of a building, so they work well when you have long events, ongoing traffic, or several events in the same location. They work with Crayola Brand Markers or Crayola Brand Wipeable Paint, and both wipe off with water and sponge or paper towels.
This depends on several factors: your attendance, how many days you'll use it, whether you have plenty of activities for your crowd or just a few, and if the mural would be in a high-traffic area for everyone or in a low-traffic area just for kids. Also remember that with a single-use tarp, size is important for usable square footage, where with a wipeable/reusable mural, you can get away with smaller and just wipe more often.
In general, for Single-Use Tarps, consider a 12x6 if your attendance is 5,000-15,000, and a 20x6 if it’s more than 15,000.
For any size event, especially larger events, consider NOT putting a single-use tarp in a high traffic area for everyone. Too much participation can fill a mural within a few hours.
For wipeable tarps, our 16x5 is by far our most common size. Only consider a 20x5 if you have a really large event, or want to have a larger visual. And consider a 12x5 for smaller events.
Single-Use Tarps are a lighter weight material, so the larger size is easy to work with and works well with the stand. Plus, the square footage only gets colored once, so you want as much as you can get.
The Rollable Wipeable is heavier than the Single Use Tarp, so we make them 5’ tall to better work with the light-weight stand. Plus, for both Rollable and Rigid Wipeable, the square footage can just be wiped and reused, so you don’t need as much.
The Rollable Wipeable Plastic has glue/adhesive joints, which is how we can give it to you in one piece like a regular banner. However, know that these joints will not last forever. We recommend storing the mural rolled ‘big’ (so you can barely get your arms around it), in an area that’s somewhat climate controlled. With proper storage, and with care while being set up and used, most clients get at least three years of use—four annual events—but many clients get more.
The Rigid Wipeable Plastic comes in sections, so it does not have the adhesive joints. Most clients have gotten four or five years or use, but many have gotten more.
Both Wipeable options need to be wiped off within a day or two of coloring, to avoid staining.
If you have an ongoing usage, like a theme park or amusement area, we’ve had clients color and wipe the mural every day for nearly 700 days.
Yes, discounts are available if you order more than one mural. Discount amount depends on complexity of initial customization, and whether each additional mural is the same design or not. When submitting a Request For Quote, there will be a place to describe your situation and request.
We have hundreds of designs available. Click into the “Designs” at the top of the page, and then choose a design category. You can also enter tags for specific items (i.e. 'cows' or 'roller coaster'), but not that designs many not have every specific thing listed in the tags. You can filter to just our goofy/cartoony designs or life-like human designs.
Note that in most cases, the Design Search page defaults to show Wall Size designs.
If you come to the Design Search from the Table Size Sheets page, the default is to show Table Size designs.
You have the option to switch back and forth between Wall Size and Table Size designs.
For Single Use Tarps, there are two customization options. There’s a lower “Stock Design” price point where we’ll add a headline text and full color logos in the upper corner(s). Then a higher price point where we’ll add a headline, logos worked into the design on signboards, AND some swapping of characters from other designs into your design.
For the Rollable and Rigid Wipeable, this swapping is available for the listed price.
Yes, we can include full color logos in your design for all product customization options except “Uncustomized Table Sheets”.

Please send full color “vector” files to info@monstermural.com.
EPS files usually have vector info. PDFs sometimes do. Send either or both of these and we’ll test them and let you know if they work.
If you don’t have EPS or PDF files, send the largest filesize you have for one of the pixel formats—JPG, PNG, etc.
In theory, yes we can put your mascot into the design. Mascot graphic must be provided in a vector format, and must be in a pose that makes sense to fit into one of our existing designs.
Single Use Tarps work well with kids paint or kids markers, but NOT with crayons, and NOT with Sharpies.
For Rollable Wipeable and Rigid Wipeable, ONLY USE Crayola Brand Washable Markers or Crayola Brand Washable Paint. Other brands either don’t stick at all, or have some colors that stain. DO NOT use dry erase markers, as they don’t come off.
If you use Crayola Washable Paint, the easiest way to wipe your ‘Wipeable’ mural is with a hose and a sponge—assuming you have a hose available and it's an area where the ground can get wet. If not, you can use a sponge and buckets of water.
If you use Crayola Washable Markers, you can use the above methods, OR you can use paper towels with a water spray bottle. This method is shown several times in the video on the homepage.
A small amount of rain will not affect already applied paint or marker. But a heavy rain will start to wash it off.
However, if an uncolored area is wet, markers won't work, and new paint will not sticking.

Permanent markers and sharpies will come off to some extent by scrubbing with a slightly wet Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. However, note that extended scrubbing can also remove the black mural lines, so try to scrub between the lines.
Single Use Tarps are grommeted like a regular banner, except grommets are purposely only along the top and bottom. Use zip ties (provided) to attach to a stand or fence.
DO NOT pull the zip ties tight, as the Single Use material is not as strong as vinyl. DO NOT leave it out in the wind, either during the day or especially unattended overnight. CLICK HERE for a PDF of the Single Use Tarp instruction poster.
Rollable Wipeable Murals are similar to the Single Use Tarp and should be treated similarly. CLICK HERE for a PDF of the Rollable Wipeable instruction poster.
Rigid Wipeable Murals come in 4’x5’ thick sections, on material that is 1/8” thick. Sections must be screwed to a flat wall, solid fence, or side of a building.
Since we don’t know where you’d need the screws, we leave it to you to drill holes for the screws. DO NOT screw directly through the material without drilling holes in the material first. Make sure the drilled holes are larger than the screws. Instructions are provided with the mural or CLICK HERE for a PDF of the Rigid Wipeable instruction poster.
If you have a Single Use Tarp, and you’d like a neatly colored mural to display afterwards, follow the instructions and use at least four seasoned adult volunteers, rope off the area to control usage, and sternly negotiate with parents of toddlers on limiting and controlling their involvement.
If you have a Single Use Tarp, and aren’t concerned about neatness, you should still have several seasoned volunteers, control access to the area, and negotiate to a point with parents of toddlers.
If you have a Wipeable Mural, try to have at least two seasoned volunteers to monitor the area, and watch for someone using their own permanent marker. However, we've heard that most fairs don’t assign staffers specifically to the mural area—they only have a staffer in the general area to check on it every so often.
If you are open into the evening—and you have a more rowdy crowd—consider closing the mural before the evening session to avoid graffiti or vandalism.
Depending on mural size and number of participants, a mural could take anywhere from a few hours to all day to color.
You can fit as many mural participants as can fit shoulder to shoulder. Depending on the mix of shorter kids to taller teens/adults, you can possibly fit 30 people at a time.
Yes, you can use a mural indoors. Our Mural Stand actually works better indoors, as it will stand on it’s own without needing to use the straps to tie it down to the ground stakes.
Single Use Tarps are our easiest product for displaying after an event. The Single Use Tarps are made of a paper/vinyl hybrid material—strong enough to sew into one piece and grommet, but not as strong as vinyl—so you should only display it in an indoor area, out of wind and rain.
The Rigid Wipeable mural comes in separate four-foot-wide printed sections that must be screwed side-by-side to a wall, fence or side of a building, so it is not set up to strap to our stand like the Rollable version.
Rigid Wipeable Murals come in 4’ x 5’ printed sections, on material that's 1/8" thick. The sections are boxed together in a 4’x5’ flat box, that’s strapped to a slightly oversized pallet.
These are shipped by freight. You don't need a receiving dock, but the freight cost will be higher when the freight company must use a lift to get the pallet off the truck.
Rigid Wipeable Plastic ships by freight, which is expensive to freight across the border, plus it requires you to engage your own customs broker.
Note that The Monster Mural does not collect Canadian taxes, so either UPS, the post office, or your customs broker will collect those.
We can likely ship a Rigid Wipeable mural to international destinations outside of the continental US and Canada.
This will require international freight and a customs broker. Please email info@monstermural.com to discuss options.
We can ship the Rigid Wipeable mural to an international military base, but note that it will need to go through international freight, and not the APO/FPO system.
